So I set myself three goals for the next twelve months.
1. Husband (type ) to meet. This does not mean I want to get married. My views on marriage have always been open. It's daily and you get to be a slave. But I want someone to go out with.
2. Have more room.
3. Study something totally different than academic or English or English Lit. Landscape design or home decor.
So I set out in my quest for the first goal as I am now about three months into the " next twelve months ". I have a couple of " friends", male of course who are stuck in their own ruts of non commitment.
I also have a couple of swains that try to chase me but I ignore them totally as one is married and the other separated after thirty years. He still sees the ex wife his next door neighbour told me, and laughed.
So in the purpose only of research and Gonzo Journalism I registered with Oasis Active. Someone I know had success with it and told me to give it a whirl.
It's good as it is free to register and message. And it's quick. And I am trying to be patient these days but it's not working.
Neither was the instant messaging. It kept cutting out and I kept blaming my internet connection but some of the men I spoke to said clunky messaging happened all the time. It was the sites fault.
I was determined to give it a real go as I did try it once in the past and was shocked at the behaviour of a lot of the men. I deactivated for years.
In an aside I would just like to say I have a great life.
I live in a shoe box behind my daughters house. She has eight kids. She is just as bad at picking men as I am. So I knew five years ago when I first came here eventually she would be a single Mother and I would have to step up to parent again.
In the meantime, I write stories for Google, I get paid a minuscule amount but I love it so. I also am in the top percentile as a writer for Trip advisor and will have to travel more to write more . I hate flying and love home so can't see that on the cards for a while. I also buy and sell retro items from the thirties, forties et al right up to the seventies.
I love restoring. I love painting, decorating, cleaning and am a seventies housewife. I cook, I preserve, I garden, I mend, make do, recycle because in those days the seventies housewife was not well off. But I love it all. Saving like scabs was our Motto. And I am still doing it.m
So being impatient and of the belief you get what you pay for I chose a " Shout Out" option on the site. I received 560 replies. Aargh.
I wanted to take each one into careful consideration but was a bit overwhelmed. Everyone from another state was eradicated. Everyone that had a suggestive name in their title was also eradicated. Big one for you. Gone. 69 anything, gone. Married gone, looking for sex, gone.
This whittled down the list a lot.
I had a file of maybes. I studied, really studied the profiles. One man said no ine reads them, anyway but I did.
After three polite sentences in, Dante someone offered me his thick ......
I typed back " Oh Please "
And blocked him.
There were several that wanted domination or submission, block, block.
Looking for Open minded Women was a turn off. Free sex in other words. Off to the parlours boys. You won't get a stalker but you do have to pay for it. Don't be so tight. If you think you have never paid for it in your life you have in one way or another.

Turned out he was a catfish from Africa.

No surprise as I already knew he was a catfish. He'd been widowed, hus wife was older and they were tragically married only for 18 months when she died from cancer.

A few years ago my brother attended a Seminar in Sydney for Franchisees. The speeches were amazing he said. Awe inspiring.

Must be a lot of lonely people in the world. Thank God I'm not one of them. I pray for loneliness, long for it, sometimes. I did mention I have three daughters, 14 geandkuds and four great Grandkids, friends that I have had for forty odd years, yes the same ones and long term relationships.
But for the lonely people out there not just the bored unfaithful or deviated. I would go and join a book club, swimming club, tennis club, the local branch of the Labour Party , a Church , rather than sit on a computer and be caught up with Catfush. And I'd say 99 percent of the " matches "are not for you.
