Raising Healthy Teens
Without Prejudice
They come from a poor background. Our teen boys, four of, plus Kyan who is 11 have a bad Dad and are kept away from him at all times.
Everyone thought the seven boys and now one baby girl would grow up not working, hopeless at school, losers in life.
Kyle is 25.Zach, 21, Brock almost 19 and Jai, 17.
We live in a Ministry house and unit with a myriad of dogs and cats.
The teens are polite, hard working, don't drink, do drugs, nor smoke, swear at their Mother or I.
Zach has been at his job almost three years, he then asked his Boss for a job for Brock and Jai works endless shifts at Hungry Jacks.
Three are licenced and Jai turns 18 on February next year and will have his as well.
They are quite shy boys.
Their Dad was outrageous, a drug addict, a thief and a jail bird all his life and is over 40 now and heading back to jail. A recidivist.
Bad, bad news.
But the boys grew up ok. How does that happen ?
Add to the heirarchy a feisty strong Mother and an equally as strong Grand Mother, me.
The women rule in our Matriarchal home. A society based on family.
Zach and girlfriend Danielle
Jai at 15
We banded together five years ago. I moved to a unit in the back yard and keep it immaculate. I am a perfectionist with high anxiety and depression. Yvette is ever so slightly Bi Polar and has been known to kick the boys up the bum to get them to school.
When I first came here I cried at having a permanent home full of kids and animals. The ministry unit was mine for life and can be moved to any spot in Victoria. And when the child rearing is done to my satisfaction, I will no doubt move it.
Yvette, the Mother and what is her vision of the side entry.

My former Father In Laws, ( Yvette's Grandad) hand made gate,
The cabinet that my former
Father in Law made.
The iconic flying ducks that were Yvette's Grandma and Granddads
We believe in old fashioned values, honesty, manners and a Simple life.
We are both very thrifty and the boys want for nothing. Yvette kept them at home with three Foxtels, computers, Games, Play Stations, Wiis.
She didn't want them out at Shopping Centres trying to find lives.
They were expected to work. There is no uglier word to a teenage boy than work. Work at home or in the yard that is.
But give poor boys a wage and they kick goals.
Visions of fast cars and girls dance in their heads.
Kyle is already a Dad. Beautiful kids,
Yvette a Grandma and me a Great Grandma at 39, how is that even possible ? Laughs.
We love our life, it's crazy, dirty, fun and outrageous a lot of the time but we had a vision. To make the boys lives better in memory of my Daughter, Lauren Jade, Yvette's sister. So far with a lot of effort and a strong wind we are doing
" fine, better than fine. "
