Best Beauty Buys In England
Without Prejudice
I recently returned from the U.K., hot little beauty buys in my case. I love Boots the Chemist for beauty buys in England, so reasonable and such great quality.
There is a new Serum out by Boots, Protect and Perfect, a serum they have perfected over the last six years. It guarantees to lessen the appearance of wrinkles by 50 % in just four weeks. I bought my serum and have been trying it out for the last four weeks. Amazing stuff. We should be able to bathe in it.
Touché Éclat by YSL , also called Radiant Touch, comes in a gold pen like dispenser and is the best concealer and highlighter ever invented. That was half the price we pay for it here in Australia. Bourjois does a good cheap version as does Aldi with their Lacuea range.
I saw a girl with the longest natural lashes and asked what Mascara she used, Telescopic by L'Oreal in very black. Perfect, also cheap.
Argan Oil seems to be the next big thing. I bought a bottle of Argan Oil which comes with it's own little dropper and can be applied all over your face and neck, it feels amazing and absorbs quickly. It is great for nourishing your eyelashes.
I also bought their hair product but find it a little heavy for my baby fine hair. Great for after a warm shower, but probably more for girls with thick hair.
Rimmel kohl kajal eye pencil in black is the best, cheapest eye pencil around. It blends well, sharpens well, I tend to keep mine in the fridge just before sharpening. You could buy Rimmel in the supermarkets for a minuscule amount, best buy two.
Dental fixative was so cheap in England as against what we pay in Australia. 2 pounds as against $12 AUD
Poundland was great for panty liners, 50p a pack, baby wipes for removing makeup, and cotton pads.
Australia is great for sun protection products, however. You cannot beat having a little pot of Blistex in your bag. It smells like butterscotch and moistens dry lips like nothing else. My daughter's skin specialist recommended it to her when she had to go on Roaccutane, which dries out all your oil glands.
Another Aussie Icon in beauty is Hawaiian Reef Oil. It smells like coconut, moistens thirsty skin and I even use it in my oil burner just for that smell that reminds me of hot days spent at the beach. Warm skin, slight sunburn, the memory it evokes is worth every cent of its cost.
So too, The Body Shop's Coconut Body Butter and White Musk Oil, a classic.
The biggest trend I saw was hair. The beehive is back, back combing, curlers, teasing and hair pieces, mainly different size donut like sponges that sit on your head and are back combed over. Very Audrey Hepburn, Natalie Wood, Barbarella. High shiny pony tails and curls look great, mid length hair with lots of volume and brunette rather than blonde.
