The Older Bride

Without Prejudice

So excited today as my second oldest daughter is finally getting married at 42. She looks like a teenager in body and has a playful, young childishness to her. Her fiancé is younger and adores her. She has 7 boys and knowing Yvette it will be a fun wedding and we are all so delighted for her.

The Wedding will be in November this year on the luscious Gold Coast and one thing we can guarantee is the weather. Hot, sunny, clear cobalt blue skies.

It will be a wedding and for those of us willing to travel it will be a great holiday and party. Yvette has patiently waited for her turn. Het two other Sisters have been married and her Foster Sister but never Yvette, forever the Bridesmaid, never the Bride. And seeing it has been such a long wait she will want everything perfect.

A great dress, traditional, with some quirky rebel touch. She will wear witchy poo lace boots underneath her train, or something very she wants an American Gothic style clapboard church. Just like the one in Guns N Roses, November Rain Clip or Rocky Horror. Small, intimate and fun. She would love Brad and Janet from Rocky Horror, but I know my child, the dress has to be traditional.

More than likely strapless, long, and frothy. Shes a very girly girl Yvette. Peter is young and will also go for something traditional and all the boys in black suits. 7 boys lined up to see their Mum married. No doubt she will want Men In Black played as the go down the aisle or Ma Barker Boys.

She will want White Wedding by Billy Idol somewhere in the venue. Its always been her favourite clip. Peter may want some Doors music, somewhere.

They at first wanted just themselves and a priest. two witnesses. They discussed the Birth Death and Marriages venue. Get married on a nice sunny day in Melbourne and go off to a pub for a meal after wards. Or a big Chinese Restaurant. And everyone in lieu of presents pays for their own meal. cheap cheerful and fun.

But now its Gold Coast, drive up or fly? It would be fun to take our time and drive up, a long journey but we can take our time and do the real Australia thing for the boys now that they are older. She has boys aged 2 to 23 and a people mover, Tarago and Peter has a 4 wheel drive Tuscan and I have a 20 year old Toyota Corolla which will probably make the trip easier than the rest.

But I might fly, flights are so cheap these days its hardly worth the bother and cost of driving up anymore. Fly and hire a car up there, or get the older boys and Peter to drive up and we fly with the little ones. The possibilities are endless. But the timing and the venue seem perfect this time.

She wants one of her Uncles to give her away or her oldest Sons. Kyle. Or Zach. It will be very emotional for her. She wants a train of tulle blowing in sea breezes and photos on the steps of the Sheraton then off to a great big chinese restaurant. Knowing tiny  little Yvette it will be the all you can eat buffet in Surfers as she loves it.

Can't wait, will keep you posted and looks like I wont be partnerless for the first time in my sodding life, Hooray.
Keep you posted.    x
