Good Versus Evil, How To Recognise A True Psychopath

Without Prejudice

A study of babies, recently done, shows that the "kindness gene " exists in 80 % of the population. Faced with a toy figure that interacted in a kind way to other toys, 80% of the babies picked up the kind toy, rather than the one who was " bad " . Babies that were not even old enough to talk.

So scientists decided to study the genetics of the 20% of babies who chose the "bad" toy. The controls included babies who were merely tired, having a cranky day or were just not as cheerful and outgoing as the rest.

What came up was a definite link between genetics and an abnormal reaction towards other people's pain. The psychopathic brains of serial killers were also studied. All had the same gene. What they call " The Warrior Gene ". If the gene is combined with a difficult childhood, then a Serial Killer may arise.

One of the scientists doing the study was discovered himself to have the psychopath gene.

A casual comment by his elderly Mother one day set him off on a personal journey to his own family history.

" you should scan your own brain " she told him.

"There is a link to Lizzie Borden in our Family "

And it was true, Lizzie Borden was a relative of the scientist and no one had mentioned it. In the Borden family there had been quite a few murders by family members.

So the scientist checked his immediate families brain scans along with his. One brain out of six came up again and again as having the psychopath gene.

His.

And he had not been violent, hurt animals or acted I any way as a true psychopath would.

On looking back through old photo albums he realised the psychopathic gene had been " washed" away by an outstandingly great childhood. Nurture versus nature.

His son said he knew his father could be a "psychopath " in ways. Demanding, lacking in impulse control. His wife said the same. But he would never turn into a serial killer or even be violent.

The genetic link is helped along by Testosterone. Males with large amounts of Testosterone and the genetic link were almost always, violent. Using their fists to answer their lufe questions.

They also tended to have no reaction to words that might inspire an emotional reaction in other people. The word rape had the same emotional response in psychopaths as the word table. A non response at all.

The traits in psychopaths can also be the traits we see in C.E.O 's, Business leaders, Supervisors. Traits which in those instances are desireable. Uninhibited, poor impulse control, charismatic, charming, using manipulations of fear or flattery to get what they want.

They often have several marriages, ( short term ) in their past. Unable to hide behind the mask of charm with those closest to them resulting in a lack of love in their lives. Sometimes the more people hated them the more the businessman psychopath liked it. Enjoying the power over other people.

So not to simplify such a serious subject by just writing my views  I have included a Wiki article on the traits of psychopaths for your perusal. And start looking closely at The Big Boss.

How to Identify a Psychopath

The Hare Psychopathy Checklist was initially developed to assess the mental condition of people who commit crimes, and it is commonly used to diagnose people who may exhibit the traits and tendencies of a psychopath. Most mental health professionals define a psychopath as a predator who takes advantage of others using charm, deceit, violence and other methods to get what they want. Identify a psychopath by using the Hare Psychopathy Checklist and trusting your own intuition.

Identifying Psychopaths with the Hare Checklist

  1. 1
Look for glib and superficial charm. A psychopath will also put on what professionals refer to as a "mask" of sanity that is likeable and pleasant. For example, the psychopath may do good deeds to gain his or her victims trust.

  2. 2
Look for a grandiose self perception. Psychopaths will often believe they are smarter or more powerful than they actually are.

  3. 3
Watch for a constant need for stimulation. Stillness, quiet and reflection are not things embraced by psychopaths. They need constant entertainment and activity.

  4. 4
Determine if there is pathological lying. A psychopath will tell all sorts of lies; little white lies as well as huge stories intended to mislead.

  5. 5
Evaluate the level of manipulation. All psychopaths are identified as cunning and able to get people to do things they might not normally do. They can use guilt, force and other methods to manipulate.

  6. 6
Look for any feelings of guilt. An absence of any guilt or remorse is a sign of psychopathy.

  7. 7
Consider the affect or emotional response a person has. Psychopaths demonstrate shallow emotional reactions to deaths, injuries, trauma or other events that would otherwise cause a deeper response.

  8. 8
Look for a lack of empathy. Psychopaths are callous and have no way of relating to non-psychopaths.

  9. 9
Take a look at the person's lifestyle. Psychopaths are often parasitic, meaning they live off other people.

  10. 10
Observe the person's behavior. The Hare Checklist includes three behavior indicators; poor behavior control, sexual promiscuity and early behavior problems.

  11. 11
Talk about goals. Psychopaths have unrealistic goals for the long term. Either there are no goals at all, or they are unattainable and based on the exaggerated sense of one's own accomplishments and abilities.

  12. 12
Look at whether the person is impulsive or irresponsible. Both those characteristics are evidence of psychopathy.

  13. 13
Consider whether the person can accept responsibility. A psychopath will never admit to being wrong or owning up to mistakes and errors in judgment.

  14. 14
Examine marital relationships. If there have been many short term marriages, the chances the person is a psychopath increase.

  15. 15
Look for a history of juvenile delinquency. Many psychopaths exhibit delinquent behaviors in their youth.

  16. 16
Check for criminal versatility. Psychopaths are able to get away with a lot, and while they might sometimes get caught, the ability to be flexible when committing crimes is an indicator.

  17. 17
Check out if a person makes constant use of "the poor fellow's imagery". Psychopaths are experts at manipulating our emotions and insecurities into causing us to view them as "poor injusticed fellows", thus lowering our sentimental guard and rendering us vulnerables for future exploitation. If this psychologic resource is continually combined with unacceptable and evil actions, this equals to a powerful alert sign about this person's real nature.
  18. 18
Pay extreme attention to the person's treatment towards others. Psychopaths are generally prone to belittle, humiliate, mistreat, mock and even attack physically (or kill, in extreme cases) people who normally would bring no benefits to him/her in any way, such as subordinates, physically frail or lower-ranking people, children, elderly people and even animals - especially the latter ones. Remember Arthur Schoepenhauer's famous words: "A person who harms or kills animals cannot be a good person at all". Another relevant saying is Mahatma Gandhi's famous speech, "You know somebody well for their treatment towards their animals".
  • Trust your instincts and intuition. If you believe someone displays the characteristics of a psychopath, put distance between yourself and that person so you are not manipulated or drawn into a relationship that may only cause you pain.
