Beachmere ASAP
Without Prejudice
I need to go to Beachmere now. Once the light starts to go in Melbourne, when the days shorten, rain and wind begins lashing I have to go North. I am able to now and thats the big difference. I wanted to winter in Queensland for so long and now I am finally free to do it. I hate leaving hearth and family behind but I have to go for me.
Helen my younger Sister lives in a lazy little fishing village near Bribie Island. Full of retired people and fishermen. There is no night life to speak of unless it's parma night at the pub. I love it there, the peace, the quiet, you can "smell the serenity". Helen's house sits right on the water, so you just stroll down to it. In the distance long cargo ships tack back and forth.
Driftwood line the beaches of Moreton Bay and the water is shallow, you can walk out for ages on the sandbars before you can swim. Over to the right you can see the city of Redcliffe, which is on a Peninsula reached by the second longest single span bridge in the Southern Hemisphere, The Houghton Highway.
The old wooden bridge lies to the left now , The Hornibrook Bridge and can be walked on foot. And at one side is Brighton and Sandgate that has the Railway Station and across the bridge, the suburbs that make up the City of Redcliffe,Margate, Scarborough, Kippa-Ring, Clontarf,Woody Point, Humpy Bong, Rothwell and Moreton Bay
Dave my brother has this massive house on the foreshore that looks like a block of flats, He's a capitalist and couldn't give a shit ! He sits on his balcony and laughs at the world, he's always laughing Dave, a very funny Man.He likes looking out on the water from his front balcony, the old Art Deco changing rooms opposite. He bought the land just at the right time and heard that the Council were going to upgrade the foreshore soon, costing millions.
There is a lagoon that is literally the best thing you have ever had fun in. Especially for kids. We took the boys there day after day Yvette and I when we were up there. Yvette said to me one day, laughing her head off,
"Look at Brock's shorts"
He had started off the day in navy shorts and with sun and water they were now whire with navy blue stitching. We just kept covering them in sunscreen and plied them with icy poles and hot chips and sauce. It was seventh heaven.
Last time I was up there Dave took me for lunch with my Sister Jackie, we sat at Hogsbreath and David looked around him,
"You cannot beat this, Janette, It's middle of Winter and look at this Sunshine" !
So true, it was mid July and the temperature had to have been 28 degress, same on the Gold Coast. That's a breath of air to me, little Winter Depression person. I have to have that light and sun in Winter, just have to. I'm going up there to write and write and write.
Last week I received a letter from Google----Google, I thought, do I owe them money or something ? I thought I maybe had to pay for the blogs,
No, it was a letter to say I was going to be paid for my stories, it's tiny but it means the more I do the more I get paid, paid to write, that's like a dream come true.
Leaving Wednesday night, Anzac Day. I feel good to go, baby is here and well, Mother too, the whole of both families are in love with little Andrej Bryce, Kyle is totally gaga for his son, I knew he would be. Mladenka is over the moon happy.
The hospital is full of relatives, cousins, friends, he is surrounded by love, my little new generation, may his path always be easy xoxox
Love Janette
