Heroin, Hollywood and Cory Monteith

Cory Monteith didn't look like a Heroin addict, neither did River Phoenix or Kurt Cobain, Nicole Ritchie, or Russell Brand. But normal looking people can still be addicts, an addict is an addict no matter how pretty the dressing on the outside. Hollywood Is supposedly drowning in Heroin. As Russell said when he was on it he was NUTS.
Heroin is a bad drug, hardly a party drug, it is ultimately a depressant, and kills people. Is it too easy to get, too cheap in comparison to cocaine, at the least cocaine makes people confident, blindingly sexual and "up". Heroin is a downer.
I knew someone that used it, he was able to function very well but had to have his Heroin to feel normal. Does it lie in people's childhoods ? Probably. Lots of people "dabble " in drugs but don't stay on it. The people that take it in in a big way are usually emotionally poor. Have things in their past that they want to numb. Can't "get over " their past, feel unloved, or undeserving of great things in life.
The druggie I knew called it The Slows. It was the penultimate drug he said, the Higher Power of Higher Powers. There was never going to be rehab for him, too hard to kick he said. He had lost all his inhibitions by then and shot up in front if me, much to my horror.
I never saw him after that, he crossed a line, but it wasnt about me, it was about him.
