Housing Yvette

Without Prejudice

I am off to look at a house or two today, Yvette has a home but needs one up here in the Sun. I have a long list of must haves. Must be safe and well fenced. Must be a high rise as she prefers a Queenslander to all else with a cool underneath area. Must have three bedrooms or two and a sunroom. Must have screens, hopefully air con, fans and room to move. Not a long list but lots of must haves.

There must be a school nearby for Kyan and eventually Acer and Cruz. Nice if its near water, or has views from windows so a nice breeze can flow through. She has a big Toyota Tarago, must be able to fit that in in driveway or yard. Parking around the back is good if she doesn't want visitors. Hmmm. Not impossible. Must be affordable and not overpriced rent. Good location and close to everything. Okay it is sounding like a Gordian Knot but I am sure I can come up with something.

There is two I like, one looks like a shopfront but is a dwelling with a granny flat attached. And one is a highset. One has air conditioning and one doesn't. One has a massive backyard and privacy and one doesn't. Hmm I guess I will fall in love with one and that will be that. I then have to hope Miss Fussy is also going to love it. Arrgh! Real Estate by remote control, got to love!

Anything I pick is going to be alright. Yvette and the boys welfare has to come first and I guess if it's comfortable, affordable and liveable that would be the main criteria. It has to be a home only for 6 months and then wait and see. One has polished boards and although I know they are trendy right now, I can't imagine they are great for little kids. Thump, thump, thump, the pounding of little feet steps all day long is never a good thing.

Yvette feels the cold so has to be warm, that is a must.

Been to see the two, one I ruled out straight away, neighbours cheek by jowl. Not a chance for Miss Privacy and noisy kidlets. Queenslander old and cute, down trodden but it's only for six months and then we see. Neighbours friendly, asked them what the neighbourhood was like,
"Great!", they said.

"There is one dog barking but no biggie"

All Queenslanders are like this, so laid back and friendly. Air conditioning up stairs, cool, three nice bedrooms and a big kitchen. Just cute as a June Bug, whatever that is. But it's the location that is the best part. Only 150 feet to the water of Moreton Bay. What a place to raise boys who one day will be surfie Dudes with streaked blonde hair and that mumble. Replying with the nuhuhuh noise of teen boys.

Love it. Two toilets, one downstairs and one up, a must have with boys, having a dedicated toilet for them is always a good idea and it's not the one in the bathroom, let me tell you! School close by and a beach, now what else do they need. A safe and quiet environment, Family not too far away but not too close either. And not far from Humptybong Esplanade (And that is really it's name)

Parks abound and water front sailing, kiting, and BBQ areas for the night time BBQ's before the mossies arrive. Shops easily accessible, medical centre and Aldi's. Kmart at Kippa Ring and a Woolies around the corner. North Lakes 20 minutes away with every store such as Myers and ABC and Body Shops and a Maccas and a Sizzlers with its ice cream bar for sweet tooths.

Yaay, Queensland xoxox

Love Janette
