6th October 2011--Mandy Hawkins

Worked late till 5am, Yvette staying up until 2am and then I continued writing for a while, I do my best work at night, peace and quiet from the hectic family, it's school holidays and we know we can sleep in,

Yes ! Mandy Hawkins died last friday and we are all in shock, 39 and leaving three kids. Kyle came this morning, tears in his eyes a little, said he had been thinking of his Aunty Mandy all night, him knowing she was lying in bed for 4 hours before she died not able to breathe very well.

It's a sad death and we have had 3 sad deaths in 3 weeks and everyone takes a little while to digest them, Yvette crying immediately and alternating now between rage and bouts of crying. Yvette and Mandy shared a flat in the old days.

Yvette had Kyle and Mandy had Josh and they were just two teenage Mums, 18. Mandy didn't reach her 40th birthday, on November 12th and Yvette turns 40 on the 19th.

Mandy is the aunt to all the 7 boys and they have mixed reactions, sad at first, sad for their Dad who was so close to his Older Sister, he told her the day before he loved her and she said she loved him too. I rang Pam , Mandy and Simon's Mum straight away, as soon as Yvette had appeared on my front door holding a phone and crying and Pam was talking to me as the body of her oldest daughter was being taken away, quite automatic and robotic in her answers. I know that voice. And today Kyle told us his Nana Pam can't think, do or move, she doesn't want to.

The autopsy is today and then a funeral and I hate them but will be there for Pam, who has done so much for Yvette, her cranky daughter In Law and for Simon, who even though is an ex partner to Yvette, they share the bond of the 5 boys born to both of them, and he's a harmless person when he's OK.

So Vale, Mandy Hawkins, we who remember the pretty young girl you were and how you loved your nephews and they loved you xoxox
